Ah, fall. You know that time of year when the leaves change, the weather gets crisp enough for the bugs to go away and for you to not break into a sweat the second you go outside? yeah. Funny, but halfway through September and we're still not there yet! LOL!! oh well....
Regardless of the weather, fall activities are in full swing for our family. There's scouts (cub scouts for Matthew, girl scouts for Alaina), there's music lessons (we're contemplating lessons for Matthew, but since he asked for the DRUMS, we're dragging our feet on that extracurricular!), and then, of course......there's SOCCER!
Ah soccer......hours for me of sitting in a lawn chair next to a field trying to keep track of 2/3 of my children while the other 1/3 plays. It's kinda stressful actually! But the kids enjoy it, so it's worth the hassle to me I suppose.
Matthew and Alaina are both on the same teams they were on last year. This is Matthew's 3rd year playing for the Choppers (their original sponsor was a Dentist, and after he quit sponsoring, they just kept the name, eh, whatever). And this is Alaina's 2nd year playing for the Lady Dragons!
After almost a month of practices, this past week was their first games. They both lost their first games. Nuts. Matthew's team has already played a 2nd game and they crushed the other team that time, so perhaps getting beat in that first game will serve as a little motivation? Either way, best of luck to both of them this season!
Here's a couple pics from Matthew's game yesterday:
Matthew played the best game he's EVER played yesterday.....he even had a couple scoring attempts (that were sadly blocked by the goalie). He's been promised a new game for the Wii if he gets a goal, so he's really trying!
But I think this picture says it all about how much he enjoys 1. me taking so many pictures, and 2. mine/Karl's 'sideline coaching' :P bwahahahahahaha
And then there's Zach, who keeps telling us that he's "five now" so he can play soccer too! Next year, little guy!
And then Alaina's first game:
I'm mostly just happy that this year Alaina's shirt says "HERMAN" instead of "HERMON" like it did last year. small victories! :D
So that's what my life has been filled with lately, for the most part......and for the next 6 weeks or so, that's what it's going to consist of: juggling soccer games. Happy fall! I go from getting sunburns on the sidelines to bringing blankets and hot chocolate to stay warm. Fall is funny that way!
And now, for scrappin'!!!
Here's the usual scene in our basement on a typical afternoon (yes, the clutter in the background is totally typical!) This is Matthew and his friend Austin, who lives a couple houses down the road:
Going back to our previous sport, baseball/softball.....I finally scrapped their sports portraits:
Alaina's team, the Strykers (gosh, that photographer did an AMAZING job, don't ya think? lol)
And Matthew's team, the Giants (again, that photog is AWESOME!)
The parade back in July that our girl scout troop walked in...it was about 115 degrees that day....blech!
Matthew's birthday party:
Zach's favorite toy: DIRT! At the kids' ballgames, he would get completely COVERED in that ballfield dirt.....what a mess he made of himself, but he had a lot of fun!
Oh, and in other news, I'm guest CT-ing this month for Man in the Moon Designs.....and here's a layout I did with one of her kits. And yes, I realize (thanks, Nicole!) that the date on this is wrong. I fixed it on the real copy, but didn't save another copy of the 'blog size'....so eh, whatever.... the kit is called "So Big".....total cuteness. this is my favorite picture of Alaina
Zach's first day of PreK this year, with Haynay's kit, "Back 2 Skool"
And a couple Disney layouts......one with Haynay's kit, "My Magical Place" of Alaina's Minnie outfit.....after an unfortunate accident with a leaky pen, Disney gave us vouchers for a new outfit for Alaina......we were so grateful!
Last layout....of the Finding Nemo ride at Epcot....one of our favorites!
So I guess that's it for now.....have a great week everybody!
